EHS Manager Gainesville, FL

Kelly Scientific Resources is looking for an EHS Manager with an excellent Biotech Company in the Gainesville, FL area. This is a direct hire opportunity with compensation being commensurate with experience. Monday-Friday on 1st shift.

Will continuously refine and strengthen the EH&S program at the facility. Programs are to be implemented in accordance with The Company's policies, and in compliance with local, Florida and US regulatory requirements. EH&S programs include: job safety and health, environmental compliance and engineering, EH&S training programs, EH&S inspections, EH&S record keeping and reporting, and emergency preparedness plans. The EH&S Manager is responsible for fostering and encouraging a safety culture that keeps our employees alert, aware, and properly trained to handle and mitigate risks associated with Operational Hazards.

Collaborate with The Company's site teams in establishing EH&S program goals.

Works with operating groups to develop and implement EH&S programs.

Develop written programs and procedures for EH&S.

Develop and deliver EH&S training programs. Implements industrial hygiene, biological safety and radiation safety programs.

Develop and implement emergency plans for fire, medical, spill and natural disasters. Reviews plans for new operations and facilities.
Conducts inspections of work environment to identify hazards. Develops and implements plans for managing hazardous and regulated waste.
Assures compliance with OSHA, EPA, Florida Department of Natural Resources, Metropolitan Sewer District, and local regulations. Prepares and applies for EH&S permits and license applications, ensuring compliance.
Coordinates loss control inspections and correspondence with insurance companies (e.g., IRI/FM and Workers' Compensation). Works with occupational health and medical services providers to implement programs. Maintains required OSHA log.
Conducts investigations of accidents and incidents, and prepares reports of these investigations. Maintains records pertaining to EH&S matters.
Tracks and monitors EHS metrics

Work Hours: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Evening and weekend work is required to meet timelines and objectives, but on an intermittent basis.

Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or Master's Degree in an area related to EH&S, such as Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or chemistry; and five (5) years of professional experience in EH&S operating in compliance with OSHA and OHSAS 18001 standards. Excellent communication skills and ability to drive results by both influence and example are required. Understanding of the risks and precautions of various Biosafety Levels (BSL), and experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology operations strongly preferred. Certification or license credentials such as the following are desirable: CIH, CSP, CHMM, CET, or PE. CPR certification required.
