This is a Regional position located in Alachua County. The incumbent is expected to travel throughout the Region as needed.
This advanced professional position is responsible for assessing and developing Child Protective Investigators (CPIs) to ensure fidelity to Floridas Child Welfare Practice model. The selected candidate must have extensive knowledge of child abuse, neglect and maltreatment and experience in child protection programs and possess analytical skills to address complex investigative activities. The selected candidate must maintain a working knowledge of federal and state laws regarding child protective investigations and administrative codes.
:A Bachelors degree;
(Bachelors or Masters degree in social work from a college or university social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is preferred. )
:Must possess and maintain current and active Child Welfare Certification from the Florida Certification Board.
:Minimum of 3 years experience working in the capacity of a Child Protective Investigator (CPI), Case Manager (CM), or CPI / CM Supervisor.
:Must possess a valid drivers license and an operational private vehicle for use in the performance of work activities.
The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete both Level 1 (Proficient) and Level 2 (Expert) of the Departments proficiency process prior to the end of probation.
:Proficient: Individual will achieve an overall passing score on a randomly selected Rapid Safety Feedback review
:Expert: Individual will successfully demonstrate the ability to lead a fidelity call and train the new safety practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is professional work protecting children and working with families to conduct investigations of alleged abused, abandoned, neglected or exploited children.
Specific duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:
:Conduct complex case reviews of investigative activities to promptly identify potential child safety threats for children under the age of 4 who have multiple risk factors.
:Provide consultation and direction to CPIs and CPI Supervisors by engaging in discussions about patterns, potential danger threats, parental protective capabilities and child vulnerability by addressing child safety threats with a sense of urgency to ensure the sufficiency of such assessments and corresponding safety plans are effective.
:Provide ongoing training to staff on the safety practice model to ensure the practice model is being applied consistently and appropriately throughout the state.
:Conduct quarterly fidelity calls that will be open to all staff for the purpose of improving practice related to safety assessments and safety planning.
:Provide guidance to investigators by coaching, motivating, modeling, and providing other mentoring initiatives to ensure investigative activities are followed through properly, thoroughly, and with a sense of urgency
