This position is responsible for direct care duties, including but not limited to: direct supervision of the residents in assigned group, assist residents with self:care/daily living skills and leisure skills; accompany residents to appointments, on trips, to work, or an alternative leisure program. Implement Behavior Support Plans (BSP) as required. Instruct residents and staff through a hands:on approach. Direct care duties may involve lifting of residents.
Complete self:care/daily living skills assessments as assigned and write summaries for submission to the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional for development of the Individual Support Plan (ISP). Develop and implement skill acquisition programs in the self:care and daily living skills areas. Communicate with the Behavioral Specialist regarding resident behaviors and BSPs. In:service staff on new programs and changes to programs already implemented. Attend training in:services as necessary.
Input programmatic data daily. Complete monthly progress notes.
Attend and participate in ISP meetings, Interdisciplinary Team meetings as well as other facility and center meetings as required.
Attend mandatory training and maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Direct Care In:Service. Complete annual health screening.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, INCLUDING UTILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT:
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to use computer programs to include Word, Excel and the Internet.
Must be able to make behavioral assessments.
Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate activities.
Must be able to develop and monitor self:care, behavioral interventions, prescriptive treatment plans, activities and programs.
Must be able to teach and apply behavior intervention principles.
Must be able to evaluate client services for compliance with program objectives.
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Must have knowledge of the principles and techniques of self:care program activities.
You must have a valid Florida Drivers License for this position. (If initially hired with an out:of:state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State drivers license within 30:days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have Corrective Lenses Restricted, are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
A high school diploma, and minimum of two (2) years experience providing care and treatment for people with developmental disabilities.
This position is located at a 24: hour facility. Working hours are daily from 7:00 a.m., to 3:30 p.m. Regular Days Off vary. Total hours in workweek 40.
Employees may be required to work additional days/hours based upon the needs of the home and center. This includes, but is not limited to: ensuring home coverage, activities, holidays, and emergency situations.
