Infrastructure and Communication Technology, a division of UFIT, manages the UF Data Center and delivers hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email, and related systems, in addition to connecting the University of Florida campuses to the world via high-speed data, video, Wi-Fi, telecommunications, and VoIP services. UFIT is looking for a self-motivated and eager learner with excellent oral and written communication skills who is adaptable to a changing work environment and requirements to assess and provide technical solutions to meet the needs of business users. This position is responsible for: + medium-to-advanced level systems administration + responding to, assisting and tracking service requests + installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems + develop and/or administer multiple University of Florida Information Technology (UFIT) and Florida LamdaRail (FLR) services and applications. Advertised Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 annually commensurate with experience and education. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and have two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years experience of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the requiredexperience, but does not negate the minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree or high school diploma/equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: EDUCATION & TRAINING: + Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field. KNOWLEDGE: + Advanced knowledge of IT applications (such as Word, Excel, Visio, Cherwell) + Advanced knowledge of RedHat and/or Windows OS + Advanced knowledge of n-tier applications (browser, web, app, database) + Advanced understanding of programming concepts of several programming languages (including C/++, Perl, Python) + Basic understanding of DNS configuration and operations + Basic understanding of network management/orchestration methods/tools (including Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), eXtensible Markup Language (XML), application programming interface (API), Expect, Network Configuration Protocol/Yet Another Next Generation (NETCONFIG/Yang)) SKILLS: + Excellent organizational skills + Well versed in technology + Strong troubleshooting skills + Strong problem solving skills + Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) ABILITIES: + Ability to work effectively independently, or as a project team member, on multiple concurrent projects/tasks + Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, critical production support and development environment. + Strong ability to plan, organize, evaluate, and redesign systems to improve operation + Ability to handle high demands + Ability to manage and prioritize multiple problems and issues with minimal supervision OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: + Self-starter + Must be flexible in work style and able to work in open workspace environment.
