Job Description:
Identifies, analyzes, tests and recommends software solutions and resolves complex software issues pertaining to supported software. Provides technical, advanced and highly complex phone support on multiple client software, including Windows operating systems, Office Suites, virus protection, email and browser clients. Manages technical customized support for UF/IFAS custom applications and systems such as FAWN, DDIS, EDIS and FAS. Support may require extensive problem diagnostics for resolution. Designs, creates, and implements problem resolutions. Builds and/or customizes programs based on client needs. Highly complex and technical resolution of IT systems designs and maintenance. Level of technical skill is highly advanced. Manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision.
Independently evaluates end user requirements for faculty, staff, and students in IFAS. Determines needed computer hardware and software and implements changes for all IFAS Departments. Coordinates hardware and software testing. This includes complex software and equipment to manage highly technical specialized departmental applications. Equipment must be able to meet demand.
Installs hardware and software including WAN and LAN setup.
Installs software/hardware and install/upgrade client specific programs to computers. Develop and conduct training for faculty and staff including use of client applications, network resources, and new technologies. Must be proactive in identifying and resolving problem areas and/or purchasing adequate equipment and software to meet needs of all IFAS Departments. This involves travel around campus using a state vehicle.
Supports additional third party software including Adobe Reader and Java; test and evaluate production software. Resolve issues; upgrades, and interconnecting versions. Performs pre-deployment functional testing of modified and updated software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects before releasing to IFAS Departments.
Develops and deploys computer system software images for rapid build and recovery. Creates images for new hardware; which includes different video and audio drivers depending upon Department hardware.
Assist in configuration and maintenance of a portable microcomputer laboratory. This bank of laptop computers must be up to date for setup and use at a variety of locations throughout IFAS. Skilled in troubleshooting and ability to manage highly complex technical issues on site.

Advertised Salary:
Salary Range: $48,500.00 to $55,500.00
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of various microcomputers; knowledge of Windows computer networking; Skills in detecting/resolving software/hardware problems; Ability to communicate technical information effectively; Help Desk support experience abilities. Computer certification, training or experience in client side PC applications, and network client configuration.
